Despite the differences, I feel these two pieces might be by the same maker. The small lidded jar is 8 cm tall, the lid is silverplate. It has pink & yellow stripes with an iridescent finish. The biscuit barrel measures 11 cm tall, has pink & yellow spatter & the silverplate fittings are marked Made in England. I guess they are of Bohemian origin, but I'm not sure of the exact maker.
I love candy!!
They're super sweet, aren't they!
Oh my goodness - I just acquired an example of the same lidded jar about a month ago! Mine comes with a spoon, but I am not sure if it is original to the set. I have found a few other pieces online recently that I also think are by the same maker, and one is in the shape of the other piece you have with the handle. That particular example is more stripey and a very close match to the jar. So, I personally do think your two pieces are by the same maker. I am really curious about who made them; it is great to see your pieces. I'll try to post my jar and spoon soon so you can see it and the other examples. Aren't these pretty pieces? :)
Hi Michelle,
That's amazing that you just got the same piece - I look forward to seeing it! Yes, I've seen a few examples of this glass too, I think one was a rose bowl type vase that was missing it's metal flower frog. It is definitely a very pretty colour scheme. I got the jar quite a while ago, I'd been admiring it a shop for some time, & I just decided one day - I have to get it. The biscuit barrel came several years later, & I thought it was a nice match for the jar.
Interestingly, I have another similar jar with a silverplate lid in a different pattern, which I will post a photo of soon, because it may help with an ID on this one. It is clear iridised with a red trailed decoration.
I'm looking forward to seeing the other jar - sounds interesting!
Will get a photo of it as soon as possible!
