My favorite hanging oil lamp so far! Think the font is a replacement tho.. anyone know if it is? The shade seems to be original. Very old and has bubbles from being blown.

Bubbles does not necessarily indicate age. It often doesn't even indicate being hand-blown (not to be mean, just to educate). The "bottom of the barrel" as bottle-collectors call it, in early glass machines would end up with many bubbles in the machine-made glass (in their case, though, it was because the gob-feeder would suck up glass, which, when low, would suck up a lot of air, too).

Due to the screws, though, I do believe this to be an antique. The pattern in the glass and what the crystals are made of may help further identify an age by people that know that aspect.

Is the burner screw cemented into the glass reservoir, or does it just screw in? (Go to 'refill the oil' and you can see if it's cemented.)

What is the little clear glass ball for? Matches?

I want to see the house that window belongs to!

The lil hanging glass is for matches! This one has the pull down pully so you can light it! I was told the match holder is from late 1890 or so. .but don't really know. . It has flaws in the glass from when made. I'll post just that later.. and I'll change one picture on here of the house.. the lamp itself now. . The shade i would guess is very old. . I have another one similar that dates 1892.. but the font my guess would be from 1970.. but ill take pictures of that with the wick out ..

My house is actually in the historic district. .there are strict rules.. can't change the windows or even the roof without asking. My neighbors chimney fell down. . They made him rebuilt one just like it. Even tho his fireplace was gone on the inside. .
