A little bit tricky today as I have previously posted both numbers 44 & 45...
#45 ~ Seekonk MA Hippie "Bird Dress" or Tunic or Kaftan or anything you want to call this epic piece of the hippie era.
#44 ~ "Summer of Love" Fringed Leather & Denim Cutoffs, a fabulous piece which somehow landed here. These have everything, psychedelic fabric patches, the funky cut-out letters spelling LOVE, a customized suede front with fringe, and even a suede flower among the colorful patches on the backside. To complete this, we have the name of the owner - Eric - hand printed inside
Putting these side by side shows the wide scope of vintage hippie fashion.
So cool ! I would have worn these for sure ! heck I still would :-)
They truly are fabulous - a lot of time went into these...
These are cool. Reminds of the 60's maybe more of the 70's. I love Mani's comment!!! That dress is cool too... I have always had to add to my clothing as far as the length goes, well until just the last few years. I would create so many different materials to the length and just to balance it all out, I'd add the same material in an abstract style on one or both legs and then around the waist or on the pockets. Every one used to love the look. The look was all good but because I HAD to do it, it was sort of a pain. Luckily, I was always creative enough to be able to do that. Better than wearing "floods"!! Remember that saying?!? There are one pair of jeans I need to do that now, I'll post when I get to them.
There ya go shareurpassion, thanks for sharing your story!. Funny, did you ever think back then what you were creating 'art" that would later be appreciated as mid century American Folk Art? Which is why I am trying to preserve it. Thanks again for contributing.
