Vintage oil lamp. . Lady i got it from said it was her great Aunts and she never used it. . Since have got it, I use it all the time. Anyone know what era this maybe from? Not labeled. . Looks like pressed glass. Hand painted shade. The chimney looks hand blown tho.. thanks for looking!

This lamp was called"petal" by Catherine Thuro who wrote many books on oil lamps. It is a common lamp made throughout the early to mid 1900's and sold through catalogs like Sears and Eaton's in Canada. The shade and shade holder is an addition that complements the lamp but that was not sold with the lamp. RER

The knob and burner itself usually hold the most information. Remove the burner and see if you can find a newest patent date, which tells you, "At earliest it could be".
Patent dates, though, where put on items for long periods after a patent, in many cases. One of the most recognised is Mason jar patent 1858, put on for like 60 years.

The burners on oil lamps were replaced often. It will not date the lamp especially when it's a newer lamp. Patent dates on things will not help you dating since the item was produced for decades with the same information on the Thumbwheel. RER

OK i bought some uranium glass the other day and was looking at it on the table next to this lamp, and this lamp glows! To my surprise! Not really bright but a yellow almost.
