I picked up this old rocking chair and there are no makers marks, hardware or screws. I believe the fabric has been replaced. If anyone might have any information please let me know. I believe it is oak.

hi, i am looking for info as well. i have one seems almost exactly the same but i think you are right that yours is reupholstered. I was told that it was from 1860 but not sure. More i look i think it might be American Empire. It is very nice heavy chair..My rocking chair upholstery is zebra like. The cushion goes lower like almost wrapped down.
It does have some american empire attributes but is not strictly american empire and has other style attributes. They often mixed styles in furniture making.
i posted my rocking chair
PhilDMorris can you check my post and possibly give me your feedback? thank you
this rocking chair and my rocking chair look almost exactly the same but upholstery is different and color of the wood. Also minor difference in the front rocking part... i posted my rocking chair to get feedback too!
The back chair rest is more in line with early oak armchairs of about 1910-20.
