This looks like Awaji - with the wicker mesh, but it appears to be much higher-fired porcelain. The base rim is rounded, which is more similar to Kyoto too. i really like the wave patterns made by the mesh. it's much larger and heavier than i thought it would be when i won it on ebay. it stands 11.5 inches high by just under 7 inches wide. it's very heavy too.

is it possibly a wine chiller?
i guess i don't know what a wine chiller is maryh! i'll have to look it up. this piece is from sometime between 1900 and 1930 - i'm pretty sure. were there wine chillers back then?
probably not any made in Japan!
