    This is an interesting decorative piece that was made by Farber brothers in New York. The base is made of some sort of metal that comes up to enclose a glass bowl. I'm not sure of the date on this I do not think it is very old

      The Farber Bros. made holders/ bases in Art Deco styles in the 1920-30's for many glass companies but especially for Cambridge Glass Co. the bowl in this compote is by Cambridge. RER

      The base is made of Chromium Zinc .

      That's a nice one, Mrstyndall! My wife collects Farber Brothers Krome Kraft, and its sister line, Silvercraft. The pieces were both beautiful and practical, as the glass was made to snap in and out for cleaning. We use ours for special occasions, and they always get many complements.
