This is an interesting decorative piece that was made by Farber brothers in New York. The base is made of some sort of metal that comes up to enclose a glass bowl. I'm not sure of the date on this I do not think it is very old
The Farber Bros. made holders/ bases in Art Deco styles in the 1920-30's for many glass companies but especially for Cambridge Glass Co. the bowl in this compote is by Cambridge. RER
The base is made of Chromium Zinc .
So, this is as old as 20's-30's?
Cambridge patented the nude stem c1931
Thanks Loumanal and Tallcakes-didn't realize it was that old-thought maybe 60-70's.
Beautiful art deco piece !!~
Thank you Phildmorris for the comment and everyone for the loves!!
Beautiful Piece !!
Thanks antiquerose!
That's a nice one, Mrstyndall! My wife collects Farber Brothers Krome Kraft, and its sister line, Silvercraft. The pieces were both beautiful and practical, as the glass was made to snap in and out for cleaning. We use ours for special occasions, and they always get many complements. Here are some posts from my wife's collection, the last one is a Silvercraft clock:
