Here is another example of a Peloton glass vase which would have held a hanging basket. This vase is made from cased glass, clear over a very pale pink, with a ribbed pattern. The Peloton threads are pink, blue, yellow & white. There is a clear thorny branch & a very thick clear base that has an embossed pattern which looks like stylised scallop shells. It measures 27 cm tall & 13 cm across the base.
Once again, this is difficult to attribute! Despite a similar function/design principle to the preceding vase, I feel that it is by a different manufacturer. It was purchased from a seller in the UK.
There is a theory that some Peloton glass was made in England, but there's not much hard evidence around to identify which factories made it...what I have noticed, however, is that this kind of Peloton glass with a pale pink ground seems a bit different than the type with white or clear grounds. The shapes of the items are different. But Peloton does vary a lot...it can be found with yellow & pale blue grounds as well...also with satin finishes. The threads also vary quite a bit, some of them are very textured & others more blended in...& the colour schemes are often variable in terms of their brightness. Single colour threads are also seen occasionally - white, pink, blue. I also have a few examples of Peloton that is layered over spatter glass.
