Oriental Ginger Jar with Jade Figure on Lid

I dont know very much about this Ginger Jar. I have been told that it is possibly Japanese? It is unusual due to the Jade figure (which I believe is a monk) I think it is Vintage has it bought by my Great Aunt in a Vienna Auction House about 70 years ago. There are no markings on the bottom or if there were they have been rubbed off. 14cm high, 10cm base and 13cm top hole. There are a couple of hairline cracks. The picture is of an oriental man in a boat. I would love some additional info about period and history if anyone can help please!
