Blown glass vase designed by Josef Hospodka, Chribska glassworks, Czech, 1960s -1970s, 22.5 cm tall.
Not expensive, not rare, still an excellent example of design and execution of the period, collected dust for years, my fault.
The Chribska glassworks, full name Sklarna Chribska, was founded in 1414, and stayed in production until very recently. In 1882 it was bought by the Mayer family. Chribska became part of the Borske Sklo National Corporation during the 1950's. Chief designer at this time was Josef Hospodka, who specialized in sculptural blown glass designs. Chribska was privatised in 1993, the new owner being Jiri Cerny, with Zdena Jobova as designer.
Managed to find exactly the same vase offered by a Czech antique dealer, so its attribution is beyond any doubt (image 4).

Pay attention to vetraio50 sound comments on ``Kitsch``.

People should get informed ‘’how it`s done’’ and designed within the period, consistent with architecture and interior and industrial design of the period. The best definition of ``Kitsch`` is ``poor quality and poor design`` and it does not depend on personal taste or fashion.
