My father purchased this vase while stationed in Japan in the 50's. After researching the information found on the bottom of the vase, I have been unable to find any information; I am hoping someone on this site can give me info or point me in the right direction.

CruzShip - I came across your post searching for information on a similar piece, that has a similar providence. My father purchased it in 1952 while "stationed" in Japan. Actually, he flew to and from Japan quite regularly from Travis AFB, and so would be there for several weeks at a time.

I don't have pictures right now, but will post them when I unpack the vase. It's the same general type and style, but does not have the long fluted neck. Instead, the opening at the top of the ovoid body it has a rolled over lip.

It does not have the "Special Maruni Patented Metal Base Japan" trademark, but is the same general style and workmanship.

I have a question - what is the material the vase is made from? Is it metal / bronze?

I do not think the vase is brass...not heavy enough.
