I rarely see artist one-offs from Marti Glass (AKA Multi Glass), generally I see their hand made production lines. I was delighted to find this gorgeous bowl, and at a good price.

There is some great design and work in this bowl. The pattern within the bowl is a combination of small white glass lines and trapped air that have been stretched and moved as the bowl has been blown. The rim of added green glass is a perfect finish.
Unlike many of these Japanese glass bowls this one has not been given a foot, just ground over the pontil scar.

I think this is relatively contemporary although I don't know the date for it.
It came with it's artist's tomobako (co-box), so has been produced as a special artist edition.
I have no translation for the script so don't know who the artist is.

It is indeed gorgeous, Karen. Image one is an ace idea.....the reflection showing the pattern in such clarity. And then green is my favourite colour......

I love the stretched air bubbles! Thank you for explaining the techniques behind this beautiful piece!

Thanks Peggy, I love the acid green on this too.
My stovetop proved useful for something other than burning food!

Thanks Bijoucaillou for the feedback. Glass artists are very clever I think!

Another Beauty Karen! At first sight, I thought it was a piece of Murano due to the controlled bubbles. I do agree with you about the green rim... The piece wouldn't have as much pizzazz without it!

Is this uranium? I love it and the info.
Went looking for the pic of your room with the mod furniture and glass and couldn't find it. ;(
Just wanted to say, I would love to sit in that room and look at each and every piece of that glass cause you know you have to touch it and pick it up and look at all their bottoms. :)

No uranium although of course it has been used in Japanese glass.
I would be happy for you to look at and touch my glass OGF, even a bottom check would be acceptable!!!
