I recently dug a large hole in my back yard to bury our 15 year old dog and we along the Northwest coast of Florida. About two feet down I found this handle which I believe is brass and looks like a chain link. Looks like they may have at one time been connected. The brass is flat on the other side. Rectangular part is 4.75" X 2.8"

It looks to me like an old door knocker, it's hard to tell tho.

Go over the spot(Hope that's not the dog's name) with a metal detector. Maybe that's just part of something.

How long is it? It kinda looks like a coffin handle.

I added more pics and the measurements. My house was built here in 2002 and I have a feeling that it has been buried in the ground for a much much longer time. I think I should get a metal detector and do some exploring.
