It is too bad that this candleholder has a little chip on the underside of the bottom. It can be seen in the last photo @25 position:(
I almost didn't buy it but I liked it so much that I just couldn't pass. I suspected that it was old and possibly from Czechoslovakia but I wasn't sure. There was a price sticker on the bottom and I couldn't peek under it! I don't understand why the employees always put the stickers exactly where one would find the marks!? When I got home, I removed the sticker and found that my candleholder was fully marked!
After searching for more than an hour, I have found many wonderful vases and other items but no candleholders yet.
I believe that the candlestick might date back to the 1920's.
Thanks for looking:)
Many thanks for loving my candleholder, vetraio50:)
Gorgeous piece of glass thanks for sharing freiheit
I think it's very pretty. I hear you about the price stickers. They do the same damn thing at the thrift shop I frequent. My solution? I just remove the sticker!
Stunning....and agree about the stickers, they do the same here....and do what Efesgirl does .... I remove them. LOL
Silly question here, but is it a Candle stick -- or maybe a Bud Vase? It the top open on the whole area to the bottom.
Also what does it say on the bottom - I can not read it
MALKEY, thanks so much for your comment:)
Efesgirl, I am glad I am not the only one annoyed by the placement of the stickers. The problem is, sometimes they get all messed up and it is hard to read the price after. also, some of them are very difficult to remove.
Antiquerose, thanks for your comment. It really is a candleholder/candlestick (I am not too sure about the difference and should look up the definition).
What looks like and opening in the centre is an "air bubble" or some sort of cavity. It is perfectly shaped and most likely designed that way.
Sorry for the bad photo. The inscription reads:
Moser
Karlsbad
Czecho Slovakia
By the way, I visited Karlsbad/Karlovy Vary this past summer and loved it! I went many times during my childhood because my hometown is less than an hour's drive from there but I didn't remember how nice it was:)
Also many thanks for loving: jscott0363, antiquerose, Efesgirl, aura, MALKEY, and sklo42:)
