I believe this kind of brooch was popular in the 70's and 80's. I am not sure if my brooch is from that time. There are no markings at all.
The only thing I am certain is that the brooch was made of some kind of plastic and rhinestones. The pin seems to be original to the piece but at some time might have been re-glued. If you look carefully you can see some excess glue.
The brooch is around2 and 1/2 inches and certainly makes a statement when worn (I just don't know what kind of statement - LOL).

Many thanks, Efesgirls and antiquerose. I checked the link but I must say I am a bit confused. Did Abigail Prada really design so much stuff? Some of it goes back to the 1940's. I must say I am not at all familiar with this name but I am always willing to learn:)
