    This plates a mystery not sure if it's marble or ivory , it also has some mother of pearl in the flowers I think it comes from India it was given to me, I would really like to know more about it

      It's a beautiful plate. I think it will be marble with shell and some stone, probably lapis inlay. You can find quite a few on ebay from Indian sellers, not exactly cheap.

      Gorgeous plate....a nice gift from someone that certainly appreciates you!! Your plate is from India and is made of Alabaster. The method of doing inlay, which is generally semi previous stones, is referred to as Pietra Dura. The inlay work can be anything from a pretty plate or tray to very complicated and large items. I have had a couple of these, and they are very nice.
