SHAMWORCS
(13 items)
i WENT INTO A LOCAL CHARITY SHOP MANY YEARS AGO & THIS FABULOUS BOX WAS SAT ON THE SHELF WITH A PRICE TICKET OF £3.00 ON IT, I THOUGHT I WAS DREAMING!
AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH I AM YET TO FIND WHO THE ENAMELS ARE BY. MONOGRAMME PLUS DATE 1927. SIZE APPROX. 10" X 6".
It's a lovely box, words by Percy Bysshe Shelley. It's not possible to tell you who painted it. There are only initials and a date. There are no images of this on the web.
Can you edit your post and add photos of the rest of the box? You can post four photos.
CONGRATULATIONS ON AN IMMACULATE FIND !!!
Have you looked into Louis Dalpayrat ???
He gave lectures in 1885 at the Royal College of Art in London.
Professor Stephen Pudney is the major authority on enamels in England.
Of course it might be a Limoges piece made for the English market.
Very interesting piece!!
What is the date ??? IC conjoined and 1927 ???
Many thanks for your generous info, the monogramme is slightly rubbed but looks like EL or FL date is 1927.
I have uploaded another enamel by alexander fisher which bears a striking similarity don't you think?
I did always think that it was by the Bromsgrove Guild, as this is where it was bought.
Such an amazing find :)))
Superb!
I think I read SI or SL for the monogram...
