    (229 items)

One I have had for a little while now and thought you might like to see especially in light of a few others with similar frit being posted recently...

I can't tell you how beautifully this vase is and really!! is one of my favourites...it is completely different in different positions and light..from a deep bright gold/orange iridescence to a deep purple/blue to a light clear violet..quite spectacular!!..the clear glass leaf shaped handles also have an all over light iridescent.

Cut and polished from the rim with no pontil.

Standing approx...18.5cm or 7.1/4 inches tall.

Thanks for taking the time to look...:-)

      Hello welzebub..
I thought this might interested you, it does with most that see it, it is a really lovely and unusual vase, quite similar (frit wize) as your newly posted one..along with a few others posted recently I thought I would throw mine into the mix as well and get opinions..I did lean towards Harrach but! not so sure now....:-)

I have a couple of observations about the piece that I think are interesting.
First, the frit on this [iece, at least in the pics appears to be a light amethyst color. The Welz piece I posted recently also has amethyst frit, which may be hard to see in the images I have on CW. It also appears to have color surrounding the pieces of frit, similar to my Welz example

Secondly, and they are certainly not the only ones to do it, the handles bear a strong resemblance to handkles on many examples of Welz trophy cases, and some other production as well.

I can not say who made it, but I for one would not lean towards Harrach, as it is not really reminiscent of any of their work I am familiar with.

No matter who made it, it is a fabulous example... Well worth studying.....

The texture on this looks wonderful! The organic, leafy handles look a bit like the feet on my yellow frit vase. It's really lovely!

IronLace....I loved yours and wanted show mine and throw into the mix..I was leaning towards Harrach for mine and it was suggested it may be..but now Welzebub has given me doubts..so now..I dunno!...:-/

Hi Inky. What an impressive fruit vase. The biggest I've seen. Lovely colour too.

Frit not fruit, damn predictive text, I wish it wouldn't presume.

Hi inky, I have a similar case with the same exact hue of lavender on glue-chip, it appears to be a light film of color on the surface either by finishing chemical or tinting, could you look at the layers of glass closely to see if the violet runs through the whole piece? Thanks jm
    31. inky inky, 8 years ago
Hi Jim...no it doesn't run through the piece it is seems to have been applied to the surface...and looks lavender/purple in one position then move it and the same colour (lavender/purple) is seen as orange gold iridescent... hope this makes sense to you..don't hesitate to get back to me if I can add anything further for you...Penny.

For what it is worth, this Welz vase in a yellow ground has the tinting layer on the exterior that you describe Jericho. It can be seen better in some pics than others.
