Here is a furnace decorated lustre vase attributed to Kralik. It is about 10" tall by 5" wide. I would describe the shape as a wide baluster with a foot and a flared rim. There is no pontil mark on the base, and the rim is ground. Red and orange "flames" are pulled through a lavender base glass, which is cased in a clear glass with a highly iridescent lustre surface. Very colorful! Probably deco era.

For what it is worth, I have really never believed that these were Kralik production. The colors and look of them never seemed quite right. None has ever been found with a Kralik mark, or any type of Czech mark on them that I am aware of. I handled a number of them at antique shows through the years and my suspicions were finally confirmed when I came across one at a show that had a made in Taiwan sticker on the underside.

I wonder how much new glass is out there passing itself off as antique Czech... especially splatter & tango decors... hmmm.

Perhaps that's why I only paid $5-10 for it at a flea market... still a pretty thing.

Thanks CZglass5... I was already suspicious due to hardly any wear, but like I said the price was right. I bought it about 10 years ago, unattributed... I'm surprised that the link I referenced for my attribution hasn't been updated if that information has been conclusively determined to be inaccurate. I've known that site's owner for many years, and he is a very advanced collector.

For what it is worth, the collector with the site that shows the pair being discussed is not the individual who made the attribution to begin with. The individual who erroneously attributed them to Kralik is no longer a forum member here.

Craig, I will play Edgar Cayce and just say that I think I know to whom you refer ;-P

Always a caveat emptor if effect... even with signed objects there are many convincing things on the market that are not correct... if something appears to be too good to be true, it probably is :-)
