I picked this up at a thrift store for $20. I am wondering if anyone knows what type of table this was or what it was used for. I am using it as a coffee table, but I am sure there was another use for it. There is 1 drawer, along with 3 sectioned squares on the top, and one sectioned rectangle with the removable board that fits inside.

    Any ideas?

Probably a combo coffee/telephone table. NOt sure why the lid would go inside the cabinet portion. Does it look like some brace to hold it were removed?

Thanks for the response Celiene! Yeah that part puzzled me as well. There are no signs of a brace to hold it at all. It is a sold piece of wood with no holes or other markings besides the one knob on the top.

How tall is it? I was thinking the curve would be where someone stood, or sat - for a retail purpose, or perhaps some kind of arts or crafts.

Gillian, its only about a foot and a half tall. Initially, that's what I thought it may be a sewing table or something to that affect, but since it is so short I am unsure. Maybe another type of craft though!
