“Justice is that standard, or boundary of right, which enables us to render to every man his just due, without distinction. This virtue is not only consistent with Divine and human laws, but is the very cement and support of civil society..."

For your consideration is this cobalt Jasperware cameo stick pin by Wedgwood. You can compare it to the US penny to get an idea of the size. The cameo depicts Justice with her sword and scales. This depiction far predates the statue of justice atop the Old Bailey in London. One can tell that the cameo dates to the late 18th or early 19th centuries due the the inscription being the old style "WEDGWOOD" and just the kiln mark "o"... there is no "England" or "Made in England" to date it to a later period. The pin and mount are marked "STERLING" and are perhaps of a later date than the cameo.

I can picture in my mind some solicitor or barrister from the Georgian or Victorian eras wearing this to secure his tie or cravat as he went to court.

It was probably a medallion mounted much later, probably in the US, as British silver would not have been marked that way

Exactly Mary... US or perhaps German might be marked Sterling... UK would have hallmarks.
