Brass messenger oil lamp , family piece handed down 3 generations ,fitted together and repaired by me when I found it in the garage in a bag ,always remember this as a kid in our house in Basingstoke being used as an ashtray , didn't have the burner or chimney or shade fitted by oil lamp shop now sadly gone from colden common winchester ,
Has pride of place in window opening top of stair in my house .
History ,it was given to my grandad as he had struck up a friendship with a maid at a big house , he was a wireless repairs man ,but not ever found any record of this but looking at messenger lamps can see the lions and bevelled edges on other pieces ,
