History: A good friend gave me this train model before she passed away.
It measures 11" x 4" x 2 1/2" including the plexiglass case. It is VERY heavy. It says "New York Central" with the number "1129" on the locomotive. I'm in the travel industry and have it sitting on my desk... people ask me about it all the time and I can't tell them much :)
Would love to know more about it.

Are you able to turn the engine over and look at the bottom of the engine there should be the manufactures name displayed there somewhere?
No, unfortunately, I can't. It's on the track attached to the wooden base. I tried to look under it with a flashlight but couldn't see anything.
It isn't Lionel as lionel has a 3 rail track. Could be American Flyer, Marx possibly even rivorossi. Maybe if you can get a photo of the tender coupling attached to the engine this can help to identify the manufacture as different companies used different coupling systems.
How's that? Tried to get a close up of the coupling...doesn't look like anything "special"...

That makes sense...My friend said her husband (who passed many, many years ago) had "built" it....THANK YOU so much for the info.
