We are trying to figure out if it's soap stone or marble. Silver plated metal? If it's from the 20's.
    Any info would be appreciated.

I am pretty positive this is alabaster. Soapstone was not used on these lamps. There was another one of these in the last year on this forum. I used to use a number of these lamp parts for the larger lamps I built. Alabaster does not like water. Not from the 20's as the base glass agate was not added until 1950. This is about 1950-52. It is a chromed lamp. They also made the birds in metal chrome. plate, the lamp is pot metal, chrome plate. They made quite a few of these. Versions were made in Canada also. Not sure where you are from. Sometimes there is a name impressed in the metal at the bottom, esp on Canadian models.

I'm in Canada. I looked on the bottom and saw a circle like imprint but could not make it out clearly.
Thank you for your knowledge on the lamp. That's great!
