      No appraisals are given on CW for insurance value.
      It's real. British hallmarks:
      Lion Passant for sterling silver
      Anchor means it was made in Birmingham
      The date letter looks to be"G" for 1830/1831 but there is another mark missing, the duty mark of George V in profile. Interesting that there is no maker's mark and that the word "STERLING" is printed on it.
      I recommend sending an email to the Assay Office in Birmingham with photos of the item and all the marks.

      What I mean by real is that it's silver. The marks are questionable.

      Thank you very much ,if you zoom in under the lion under the anchor it looks as if there is a circle and a triangle scribed..not sure if I also put up the pic with the numbers 640 and under the numbers looks to be a backwards moon

      I think it is an American piece of sterling that has been imported to England and made legal for sale there by addition at the Birmingham Assay Office of the English hallmarks in 1830.
