I picked up this neat item today. It was initially advertised as a beer stein, but it is a syrup pitcher. This has a patent date of 1865, but not sure when it was actually made. Any ideas??

The Derby Silver Co. wasn't founded until 1872, so no way to know precisely when the syrup jug was made.

Thanks, Efesgirl-I found this marking on the link and can date range it to late 1800's, which is cool. Neat to have something that old and looks so new :)
Ice insert cylinder is missing. Most likely made of glass and broken.
Take a look here:

Or Google for ``pitcher with ice tube insert`` (both old and modern).
