This unusual piece of Victorian glass became part of my collection in 2004. I found it in a shop that specialised in Retro, or Mid Century Modern items, & it was labelled as 1950s Murano....it was also a very reasonable price. The rose shaped rose bowl is made from custard satin glass with green satin "sepals" - all contain uranium & glow brightly under UV light.
The rose is mounted on a metal stand that is attached to a circular mirror plateau via a screw fitting. The whole thing measures 15 cm tall, & 12.5 cm wide across the base. I'm fairly certain that it is English - the mirror plateau was a popular feature of items such as epergnes, fairy lamps, & various types of flower holders made by English manufacturers such as John Walsh Walsh, Webb, Stevens & Williams, etc.
Crikey!!!
