My husband's mother & father had what I consider to be very good taste. They spent a large part of the 1950's and 1960's traveling the world, especially spending time in Europe, and had many lovely things from their travels. When my mother-in-law passed away recently, these two Venini pieces came to our family, along with a bowl in the same style. These bottles are Italian Murano and were made by Paolo Venini; the bottles date to 1955. The term 'Inciso' refers to a technique in which glass is wheel-carved with fine, horizontal lines. I tried to show some of the texture of this in image 2. The taller blue vase is 12-1/4" tall, and the amber vase is 7-1/4" tall. My brother-in-law's family has the two other Venini bottles from the family, and I think they are a very nice remembrance of two lovely people.

These are fabulous and classic Venini examples. Earlier work such as this is quite difficult to find, especially in such nice condition and with labels and marks. I love these!!

Thanks so much, Craig! We feel very lucky to have them. These really have a feeling of depth to them because of the thickness and frostiness of the glass. I didn't know what kind of work went into them until I started reading more about Venini and the Incico glass technique; it was all very interesting to learn.

These are fantastic Michelle! This label definitely dates it to the fifties and, as I'm sure you know, these are very desirable pieces. I love cold-worked Murano pieces of this nature with its soft, hazy appearance. Here are some similar examples, and as you can see, they're quite valuable. Any Murano collector would be proud to own these!

Thanks so much, Rick! I appreciate your expertise on these. I honestly know nothing about Italian glass, but the hand-worked nature of these pieces is really lovely, I agree. :)
