This is considered to be the FIRST image showing Abraham Lincoln as President.
It is believed to have been photographed at some point between 1 MAR 1861 and the end of JUN 1861.
The exact date and the photographer are unknown. The photograph is often referred to as the Speed photograph due to a larger inscribed version of the image that was presented to Mrs. Speed a friend of the President.
Thanks bobby-- be sure to take a look at my image of Mary Lincoln just posted.

WOW! RARE!
Well collected Scott.
Thanks racer-- appreciate you looking.
This particular view is the most under appreciated "from life" image (vs. lithographic) of Lincoln. Because this example is most often found retouched, many folks believe it is lithographic
