The first time these two brooches have been photographed together. These are two of the most historically valuable brooches in the history of aviation and World War Two. The P-39 Airacobra Brooches were left behind by Lawrence Dale Bell, (Larry Bell) and Lucille M. Bell, of Bell Aircraft Company, ( today known as Bell Helicopter, a Division of Textron, or Bell ) ----- Two of the best kept jewelry secrets of World War Two ----- Royal Symbols of British and American military cooperation during World War Two. ------- These two brooches were presented to Larry Bell by King Peter II, the Godson and envoy of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother, of the United Kingdom. Each brooch represents a significant milestone in the relationship between the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom and the Bell Aircraft Company of the United States. ------- "Google" -- Part 2, Part 3, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, and Part 9, Part 10, Part 11, and Part 12 -- P-39 Airacobra Brooches of Lawrence Dale "Larry" Bell, Founder of The Bell Aircraft Company, for a more detailed, educational and historical accounting and description.
Aprox. 1,100 P-39 Airacobra military aircraft, ( P-39 Cobra, P-400, P-39 Caribou, MK-1 ), were built and delivered to the United Kingdom's RAF during World War II. ----- Tap on the above high definition pictures and magnify. ----- ( Dating 1942 to 1945, World War Two ) ------- Germany surrendered May 7, 1945, During a nationwide radio address, May 8, 1945, Winston Churchill declared "VICTORY IN EUROPE" OR "V-E DAY", marking the end of World War Two, in Europe. -- In July, 1945, King Peter II presented the "V-E DAY" ( GVll ) silver and platinum brooch to Lawrence Dale Bell, Founder of The Bell Aircraft Company. -- Japan surrendered September 2, 1945, marking the end of World War Two, world wide. -------- The P-39 Airacobra diamond and platinum brooch is dated 1939 to 1942, with the "circle in star in circle" and the striped -- "red, white, and blue" -- identification markings on the vertical tail section. --------------- The United States Air Force aircraft identification markings indicate that the "Silver Bullet", ( "V-E DAY" ), ( GVll ) silver and platinum brooch is dated 1944 to 1945, with the "star in circle" identification markings on the top left front wing and the bottom right bottom wing, along with the same identification markings on both sides of the back body of the aircraft. These markings also indicate " North Africa deployment". ------- Having both of the brooches in the same picture allows the viewer to compare the differences between the two brooches. ------------- "Google" - Part 7 The Bell P-39 Airacobra Brooches compared to The United States General Dwight D. Eisenhower's Russian "Order of Victory" Commendation, ( Marked -- "VII" ), presented to General Eisenhower by Joseph Stalin at the end of World War Two. Multiple high definition photographs were supplied for this comparison by Troy Elkins, Museum Registrar, at "The Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum". ----------- "Google" -- Part 9 P-39 Airacobra Brooches for "Precious Metal Analysis" conducted by and under the supervision of "Koved Technology, LLC." representing "The Thermo-Fisher Scientific Corporation". -------- More information to follow.
