The Scanner was an 8.5 x 11, 8 page (front and back) weekly news zine published by the 11th Bomb Group and the 75th Air Service Group located on the Mariana Islands, Guam.
I discovered this item today 1/25/17, while organizing my late Grandfathers estate.
My Grandfather, Robert Jacoby, a member of the Air Force's 20th Air Division,. He served as a P-47 crew chief, and Air, Sea, Rescue during his second tour of WW2. He survived both a plane crash and a typhoon while stationed in Guam. I guess this zine survived as well. :)
The zine is in good shape. The majority of the print is still quite legible.
Would love to know more about this very rare look into military life as well as the current events of that time.
Will provide better quality photos upon request.
I love these unit papers-- they usually have some interesting details on soldier/ sailor life and some great cartoons.
This particular paper was done just before VJ Day.
