These two examples of Victorian style glass by Welz feature a well known striped pattern with applied details in pale pink.
The small footed jug has been in my collection since 1995, one of the earliest pieces I ever bought...I knew very little about glass then, except that I thought this jug was very pretty, possibly old, & it was dirt cheap!
It measures 12.5 cm tall, 5 cm across the top rim & 9.5 cm across the leaf footed base.
The candlestick was also a cheap flea market find, because it has been repaired - a piece was broken out of the base & glued back on. Still displays nicely though!
It measures 14 cm tall, 5 cm across the top rim & 9 cm across the frilled base.
Very nice examples. I have the same candlestick in an oxblood and white decor, and have seen it in a couple of other easily recognizable Welz decors also. The small creamer is also a shape I have seen, but without the legs.
So pretty! I love the candlestick, too. There is something about the pale peachy pink and the orange that I really like. (I have two taller Welz candlesticks in a different decor, but they have the same frilled base as yours does.)
Many thanks, welzebub & Michelle! It's amazing how many variations there are - same decor, a multitude of different shapes.
