This lump of forged steel is 18" long and was originally used to splice large mooring ropes for the ships it cruised on with the original owner being an old British Navy Rigger. Has the distinctive broad arrow military mark.
Newey & Bloomer Ltd of Birmingham seem to just deal in kettles nowadays? It's the only item I can find that relates to 'Newey'?
