Thanks for looking lovers of Moonstone.
These were gifted to me by my late mother for my 40th birthday, it had been many years since being given a gift for birthdays (always a card ) ATBITW as Mums sign off . Mum being Mum she sent me a photo in a frame to go with my gifts one being the brooch my Great Grandmother is wearing in the photo and these beautiful moonstones. I was most delighted and happy to receive such a beautiful gift. My mum passed away in 2010 6 months before my 50th so I am chuffed to have them and a nice photo to boot.
I have given the peacock brooch to my beautiful daughter as she loves all things that are vintage and she looks like she just walked out of the 50's . Most days she posts " brooch of the day " she has an amazing collection dating back to the 30's. It was a must that she had the brooch so I gifted it to her about 3 years ago now. Nice for me to see her love it and wear it, rather than me be dead and gone then she gets it, makes me happy.
Now the moonstones well since getting them I have worn them a few times and panicked so I had them re strung and inderviduly knotted because I was so worried they may break ..not now.
The moonstones are pre WW1 the length is 55cm or 22 inches. It has a screw clasp all in great condition. The largest stone is 2cm long and it measures 5cm round. They drop in size as you can see with the smallest being 5mm.It's so hard to photograph them as you don't see what I see. I hope you can at least appreciate their beauty with my photos.
Thank god my mum did what I thought she would and pop a little note in behind the photo that I got the information I do know. So my mum is 17 yrs old and she is dressed to go to the coronation of of Queen Elizabeth in 1953. It would have been a wonderful day for her I'm sure.
My Great Grandmother well.....talk about skeletons in the closet, the story goes she was an illegitimate daughter of mad king George 1738-1820 . It's never spoken of with family it's like taboo. My Great Grandmother's mother was allegedly a chamber maid and became pregnant. My Great Grandmother goes onto really have a life of extravagance yet her mother had "nothing" there are photos of her traveling all over the world and by what I have seen she did travel extensively and died a very wealthy woman with a blank birth certificate for father. It's not to be spoken of ever.
So here am I with something that I can not see anywhere else and they could be worth a motza ....I never met the great grandmother, I do recall my mum telling me she drove an ambulance in the First World War and her face got full of shrapnel so she was disfigure. She goes on to be given an OBE ..... WELL she dies in her late 90's wealthy and donates all she has "not to her 2 sons" to Battersea Dogs home.....
Well I hope you like my story as its the one that has been shared with us as we grew up, but not to be spoken of & I have wondered all my life why my veins were so blue " really I'm a right royal " .... you may kiss my hand .
Beautiful necklace.
Interesting family history. Here's some history about the illegitimate children of royalty:

Cheers for that, funny Queen Victoria had it all silenced...funny no wonder we shall not speak of this matter..... I have been looking to see if I can find any thing like them but no luck ....and I noticed I have them on in my profile pic....
What a nice introduction to Show and Tell !
I really enjoyed your write-up, and your pics.
For your beautiful necklace and mystery about it, sorry if you will be deceived, it is not moonstone, but mother of pearl...
Here is the same, just has blue spacers added:
