These are simply glorious. The creativity Maxine put into her patches makes them an art statement. Not sure if there is a single store-bought patch on the garment. She thankfully wrote me her history wearing these in the Detroit area back in the Hippie era - concerts, clubs and I think even a protest. I have her provenance document put away and not near me at the moment. Check out the details - highly unusual - Maxine was quite the folk textile artist.
