This JIP stands over 11" tall, is 4.5" at the base, and the flower is over 6" across. Cased inside the deep cherry red base glass is a layer of Aurene-like iridescent gold. It is a very nice example of the work of American studio glass artist Donald Carlson. It is signed on the base & dates to 1979. The lip is polished and there is a button pontil. Carlson was a big part of the Art Nouveau revival movement in American Studio glass during the '60s & '70s. He is still working today with a studio in Oregon. He is participating in Randy Strong's book and T-Shirt projects along with other great American glass artists like Craig Zweifel, the Lundberg brothers, and more. I got very lucky and found this vase at a bargain price. Hope you enjoy!
