This item mysteriously appeared in local workshop. Heavy iron, C shaped body with T-Bar screw press culminating in a 6 pointed star shape that presses down onto?? Approx 14 cm top to bottom when closed and 14 cm back of body to end of star. Has tiger stamped to side of base in lower case lettering.
Tire patch press. Used when automobile inner tubes were repaired by applying a rubber patch which was covered with a shallow cup filled with flammable material which was ignited providing heat to vulcanize and fuse the rubber patch with the tube.

I agree with UncleRon. For patching inner tubes on tyres. Quite common in the rural areas where I am located.
I have 2 of those. One is made from steel, and another made of aluminum.
They are for doing a hot patch on inner tubes on your tires. It always cost more to have it done at the gas station for this type, but they didn't come loose.
