    Highplains…
    (2 items)

I have a pipe that I bought at an auction. The auctioneer knew nothing about the piece.
    1. The shaft (pipe) and the mouth piece are made of wood
    2. The shaft is covered in snake skin
    3. The bowl is made of brass.
    4. The animal figure heads are made of primative brass
    a. There's two animals depicted (not sure what they are)

I was looking to see if anyone knows what Native American Tribe could have made this unique pipe.

    Thank you
    Mike

I have a very similar pipe, but the straps holding the figures are wood. Also, the bowl is ivory or bone.

Got the answer. This pipe is from Africa. Probably a shamans pipe. Mid 20th Century. Animal heads are water buffalo, and eland. Senufo or Cameroon.

My jaw dropped when i saw this, "That's Bill's pipe!"
i had no idea there were LOTS of them.
Yep, it's from Africa. i knew a guy who had one and that's where he got it.
With multiple reports of them, likely a trade item.
      They're really very spectacular pieces.
