I have placed this next to another Victorian vase for comparison.
This one was found at a country flea market for $5. At the time I thought it was perhaps English.
It is made from two layers of cased glass, once again, a very thin inner of palest pink overlaid with clear glass that is textured with pulled out thorns. The clear base is formed as a slighty squashed "rustic ball" shape, also covered in thorny pull out decoration. Underneath, it has been polished smooth.
It measures 16 cm tall, 3.1 cm across the polished top rim & 4.5 cm across the base.
Whereas the larger thorn vase fits well to the Loetz vases described, the thorn vase with the characteristically ball shaped foot and the thinly pink cased shiny surface is certainly made by Stevens&Williams. I have a same example in light green. This type of foot is well known from other S&W pieces - like Mat-Su-No-Ke decoration - too.
Many thanks kairomalte, I had originally thought of S&W, but was uncertain as I had not seen the ball foot on a vase in this shape.
