Hello CW friends!
This is a 300y (3$) thrift shop find. It is marked Trifari TM at the clasp. A bit of search on those marks told me that Trifari TM were produced from late 1980's through 1999 and that they were the last signed pieces by Trifari.
The beads are faceted white matte plastic (celluloid?) beads, alternating with a few larger glossy acrylic ones.
The necklace was quite dirty when I got it. I think I spent about an hour cleaning it, bead by bead (eeeeeee!), with soapy water, but it's still not quite there yet, showing vague traces of browning in places. Any idea how I could clean it more thoroughly?
Thank you and merci beaucoup!
"eeeeeee!" is right! Gee, I don't think that necklace can get much whiter. :-))))) Did you use a toothbrush to clean the beads? I have a baby's toothbrush for fiddly cleaning jobs.
LOL Bonnie, thank you for relating so well with the eeeeeeeeeee :-)))) I tried with a soft cotton cloth, but too soft I guess. Baby's tooth brush is a great idea, thank you! I'll try... it will give my fingers a break.
Haha, so much beads to clean with only 10 fingers... I would take a break too, and call what is left... PATINA! ;-)))
Good buy!
Hahhaha, you're right kyra :-)) I'll give it one more try, and if not, I'll settle with patina. Japanese patina must be very precious, right? :-))
Thank you for the love clicks, everyone!
Thank you val! "good job" coming from you means a lot! So is it plastic-plastic?
The necklace is 36" - 91cm long. I somehow wish it would be longer! (except for the cleaning part, of course).
