This is a waltham pocket watch with key, it was given to my dad 40 years ago. Now he has passed it onto me. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me the year it was made. And where it was made. Thanks.

      It is a Model 1883 Waltham 7 jewel 18s (size 18) circa 1912.

Thank you, can you tell me what on the watch gives the date away. Thanks.

You put the movement (part that ticks) serial number into a watch database and provide the manufacturer. The database comes back with an age and info on the watch.

Did you get the date of the watch from the serial number?
Post the serial number, and I will look the date up in my book, or someone else will.

Hi, that would be really helpful, the serial number on the working part is 18448720. Case number is 151191. Can you tell why the case number is different to the number on the working part. Thanks.

Oh, I see no that RRP already gave you the manufacture date of 1912.
Sorry, my eyes are not great and I did not see that. He is totally
correct. A case would be made separately from the watch, and sometimes
by a totally different company. You have a watch made by a good company.
Already your watch is over a century old.

      Thanks you.
