This Victorian era vase by Welz features a pattern of swirling stripes in pale blue, with a white interior & a clear overlay. It measures 10 cm tall, 9.7 cm across the top rim & 5.5 cm across the base, which has a partly polished pontil mark. The interesting thing about it to me is the four cornered top, which is a little different, & that this decor is seen more often in pink. There are also a few random flecks of dark red mixed in with the blue stripes.
Pretty, and nice to have a less common shape and colour!
Thanks so much, sklo42! I'm quite a fan of this striped decor & hope to find another example sometime.
Very pretty! I love this variation of the rim. Such a pretty Welz piece! :)
czechglass5 - I am going by the Welz pink striped decor - this blue stripe looks the same to me.
Many thanks, Michelle!
