This 1961 Admiral is in great condition, and both the radio and record player works. Note the "CD" on the tuning dial- this was the emergency broadcast station to tune to prior to 1963. The Stereo-Reverb was an additional dial on the console that allowed you to add an echo like reverb to the radio or record.
My mom still has her stereo console. We got it not long after moving to Willingboro (then Levittown) NJ in 1960.
I have always been fascinated by people who manage to keep the same things in their homes for 50 years- especially a large stereo console. There is so much going on over the years that almost guarantees that the old goes out and the new comes in. New furniture styles, new technology, televisions, stereos, appliances, etc. It's so neat to run into old stuff like consoles (and not the ugly and bulky 70's ones) in people's homes.
My mom also has the same dining table and chairs (gorgeous!), the same wall decorations and my creamy white bedroom set, 1960s, made by Bassett Furniture. The headboard and dresser both have interchangeable panels which can be slid out and reversed to change their colors.
