I received this lamp from a friend about 20 years ago and don't know the history or anything about it. Does anyone know how old it may be? Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Iron horse hanging oil lamp. . Of coarse this one was made to be electric. These come and go with popularity. . Right now they have a pretty good market for them. If you type that into ebay you'll see..And you could always find a different font if you wanted to make it an oil lamp as well. . I know lots of people prefer them to be original oil lamps. Nice lamp!

Thanks for the info!! I did some searching and haven't found an identical one yet, but that gives me lots more info to go on.

The chain was added prolly when they made it electric. Also does around where the bulb is say anything. . Sometimes that can help date. These were popular in the 1900s. But there was reproductions later. This one looks original. Other than is missing a few things. Like the smoke bell. And the pull down pully.. all lil things you could fix and change if you wanted to. I have two hanging oil lamps. Only one of mine is dated 1892. And the other one I've changed the frame to one i liked better.. good luck on your search! These are highly collectable! The two i have I've never seen another like mine.

The metal by the bulb is stamped EAGLE. Its been in storage the last few years and I don't have room for it, so I'm thinking about passing it on for someone else to enjoy.

You could prolly ask 200 or more for it. . I've seen just the frame for 100 and just the glass shade for 100.. I'd base my price off eBay. Really you can ask anything. But it's if people are willing to pay that or not.
