Industrial Holophane Pendant Lights

I purchased these Holophane shades on eBay; I believe they are c.1950s-60s. Luckily they included the often-missing round covers to fully enclose the fixtures on the bottom. I was able to find fitters to connect them to chains. I wired them up to use as pendants over my kitchen island; they turned out great.

I love the history of Holophane. There was a science to them when they were first invented, from the use of specific glass that offered optimum clarity along with prisms to bend and focus light down where it was needed. They were considered bleeding edge lighting technology back in the day.
