1927 Rookwood Pottery Faun plaque.
N.F.W. , 1927 , M.C. In a circular position on the back with the date in the middle.
I have seen a couple other examples online, each a different color. No one seems to be able to positively identify what the initials on the back stand for. Popular opinion leans heavily toward this being a piece commisioned by a fraternal organization.
