This unusual Victorian glass thorn vase is made from two layers of cased glass, salmon pink over a white interior. It has an irregular, scissor cut top rim, rustic pull out decoration all over, & four applied clear feet of a quirky wheel like shape. It measures 14 cm tall, around 8.5 cm wide across the top, & around 9 cm across the footed base. The feet have an embossed daisy head pattern. Polished pontil on the base.

Many thanks kralik1928, I love weird glass & am always looking for particularly odd specimens! I have a few more contenders with weirdness potential to be posted in the near future...

I'm bumping this up as the tooled rim reminds me of the one on inky's recently posted Early Loetz vase - maybe this oddity is their work as well..?

Hi IronLace, this is lovely. It reminded me of Inkys' early Loetz too.

Marin, I never saw this vase before because it was in the Art Glass category, and I follow Bohemian, Loetz or French glass...I am so glad you mentioned this piece to me! You have really helped me with a vase I have had for a few years now, with the exact same feet. I think we both have pieces of early Loetz here! May I use one of your photos in an upcoming post for comparison? :)

Thanks so much, Michelle, & it's nice to think this vase has provided a useful guide for making an attribution!
You're more than welcome to use an image, in fact I could provide a better one now if you like as my photos from 5 year ago were not so great...
