Good afternoon everyone,
This brooch or pin is marked on the back starting with the initals.
J.B next is a number 9375 then an anchor and finally some other mark possibly some type of animal this is only a guess.
I cannot get a real clear photo of the marks.
I am hoping the horseshoe on the front side is something familar to fellow CW's
Roddy
The 9 and the 375 mean 9kt gold. The anchor on it's side means gold. The hallmarks are British. The brooch dates from the Victorian/Edwardian era. You need to use a magnifying glass to get a clear shot of the hallmarks. Can't tell you anything else without seeing the marks. The horseshoe is a symbol of good luck.
Antique Jedi has the goods. Lol.
It looks a little better Efesgirl I will try to get a clearer photo of the initials. They are a little harder to get in focus.
Hmmmm...the initials look like "JGR" or "J&R". Date letter looks like an "M".
I suggest contacting the Assay Office in Birmingham and sending them the photos. They will know.

The force is strong Efesgirl.
This is great Efesgirl, thank you so much for the time frame and for an understanding of what the symbols and numbers stand for. I will check out the link.
Roy is right the force is strong with you:))
:-)))) thanks for the compliment. There's a fellow named Ivan who also is super good with jewelry. If he happens to see the brooch, he might know more about it.
Efesgirl and Roy thank you for your nice comments and Efesgirl for helping to identify this piece. I will see if Ivan might drops around before I mark mystery solved:))
