A large vase from Kurata spattered to give it a landscape look.
The ground is coloured from white at the base to pale blue at the neck, and it has been spattered with browns, blues and greens heavily at the base and reducing through the body. Silver metal has been freely scattered over the top, and it has then been sandblasted.

The result is a soft, almost impressionistic scene. It's very Zen.

    Height 28cm

The shape and the colours, also a technique ,gather variety of styles and tendencies in European glass and create something very Japanese. Those are a trick and the art!

What a wonderful vase Karen! What really thrills me is the soft colors and smooth, opaque finish! Like Rosie said, by using the sandblasting technique, it reminds me a little bit of Murano Scavo Glass :-)

I know the series you mean Peggy. They too were landscape pieces.

Kurata have a liking for sandblasted finishes Rick, and I think they have mastered the colours under it to maintain beauty. Thanks for your insightful comments.
